Baptism

At Mount Royal Emmanuel United Church, we celebrate both infant and adult baptisms, usually through sprinkling or pouring.

If you’re a parent wishing to have your child baptized, we invite you to meet with our minister, Rev. Debz. This meeting is a chance to get to know each other, walk through what to expect on the day of baptism, and answer any questions you may have.

Baptism is about more than just a moment — it’s about belonging to a faith community. You do not need to be a church member to have your child baptized, but we encourage families to stay connected to a local congregation throughout their child’s life.

For adults seeking baptism, we welcome you to attend a few of our services first, to discern if this feels like your spiritual home. If so, Rev. Debz would be happy to meet with you to talk about the core beliefs of the United Church and plan this special celebration together. If you were baptized previously in another Christian denomination, we honor your baptism — and a transfer of membership may be the right next step for you.

Sunday School

Families with little ones are warmly welcomed!

Each Sunday, we offer “Wonder Time” (formerly called Children’s Time) as part of the service. Teens are welcome to stay upstairs for the full service.

While we currently do not have a staffed nursery, infants and toddlers are always welcome to stay with their parents either in the sanctuary or join the Sunday School activities if parents are comfortable.

Confirmation

Confirmation is an opportunity to deepen your faith and become a full member of the United Church.

For adults who were baptized but never formally joined a church, we offer a Confirmation Class that runs once a month over four months. Topics are shaped by participants’ interests, and past discussions have included the Bible, worship, church history, and social justice.

Church Membership

At Mount Royal Emmanuel, everyone is valued — whether you’re an adherent (regular attendee) or a formal member.

Many adherents participate fully in church life, but membership offers additional privileges like voting at regional meetings, serving in elected leadership roles, or pursuing paths toward ministry.

If you’re transferring from another United Church, we can easily move your membership here. If you come from a different denomination or have never been a member of any church, we invite you to attend our Confirmation Class to learn more about the United Church and explore what it means to become a member.

We celebrate new members with a Membership Sunday once or twice a year — a joyful time of welcome and blessing!

Marriage

Rev. Debz is licensed to officiate weddings in Saskatchewan and would be honoured to help you plan your special day.

If you are considering marriage, we invite you to meet with Rev. Debz to dream together about your ceremony. A wedding rehearsal is typically scheduled the day before to walk through everything.

Because marriage is a sacred commitment, we encourage couples to attend a premarital counselling session — either with Rev. Debz (who is a certified Prepare/Enrich facilitator) or another provider — to explore important topics like communication, finances, and future goals.

Weddings can be held in our beautiful sanctuary or at a location of your choosing. If you would like to rent our church hall for your reception or gathering, please contact us for rental details.

Funerals

We know that grief is a tender journey, and we are honoured to walk alongside you during times of loss.

Rev. Debz and our Music Minister, Betty Ann, work together to provide meaningful funeral, memorial, or celebration of life services.

After a time and date are arranged, Rev. Debz will meet with your family to learn about your loved one, plan the service, and ensure that it reflects their life and spirit.

Families may also choose to have a funeral luncheon hosted by our church volunteers or bring in an outside caterer if preferred.

Pastoral support is available throughout the grieving process — please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Pastoral Care and Counselling

Rev. Debz offers compassionate pastoral care and short-term pastoral counselling for individuals and families.

She has specialized experience in areas such as dementia support, mental wellness, addictions, disability ministry, and grief.

While not a licensed therapist, she is available for listening, prayer, and referrals to trusted community organizations or mental health professionals when needed.

Pastoral care, including hospital visits, shut-in visits, and crisis support, is an important part of our ministry.
Please reach out if you or a loved one would like a visit — we’re here for you.
